  :: DAVID CREEVY ::

David Creevy has just returned from the United States with critical acclaim. His programme of classical Celtic fusion has received standing ovation and encores from thousands of people. One of his current programmes, "A Tribute to O'Carolan", has sold out many performances in L.A. and the Pepperdine News has stated-
"(Creevy)…gave an inspiring solo performance filled with Irish sentiment, wit and images. The hall was filled with an enthusiastic audience that spilled into the aisles as Creevy created a magical atmosphere with his music…He received a fervent standing ovation and encore…"

Creevy is recognised as Ireland's most talented young guitarist. The Irish Times have written, - "…Creevy is a sensitive musician with a knowing sophisticated side…a strong technique with an ability to define layers in a multi-line texture…" He has studied with America's greatest guitarist, Christopher Parkening. Parkening is considered to be the Heir to the Legacy of Andres Segovia. Parkening proclaims that - "David Creevy is a very talented young classical guitarist. An instrument speaks from the heart of a player and it is this young man's heart that speaks when he plays"

A recent graduate from Dublin Conservatory of Music and Drama, where he studied with John Feeley, Creevy has been honoured with multiple awards. During his first year he won the Patrick flood Award for the best Guitar Recital and was runner up in the Yamaha European Guitar Foundation Prize. He was also the recipient of the George Louden J.S. Bach Guitar prize and the Senior Guitar prize.

His competition success led to a performance in the John Field Room in the National Concert Hall, after which he was invited to perform for the President of Ireland, Mary MacAleese. In 2003, Creevy's talent was internationally recognised by being selected as a finalist in the Stotsenberg International Classical Guitar Competition in America. He is the first Irish guitarist to be among the top twenty players of his generation. Following that competition, Creevy was invited to study with Christopher Parkening. He was selected as one of six students from around the world to perform for Parkening at his annual Master Class in California.

He has also participated in master classes with renowned guitarists such as Carlos Bonell (Spain), Nigel North (U.K.), Scott Tennant (USA), Fabio Zanon (Brazil) and Alan Neave (Scotland). Creevy's stage presence, interaction with the audience and his sensitive interpretation, offer audiences a unique and gratifying experience. His programmes include his own arrangements of the 17th century Irish Harpist, Turlough O'Carolan and other ancient Celtic music. He also includes the much-loved Spanish repertoire, exciting modern music from Russia, Japan, California and music from his favourite composer J.S. Bach.
