Rachel Factor is a graduate of the Masters Degree in Music Performance and Musicology from NUI Maynooth. She was first introduced to the harpsichord while studying piano as part of her Music Performance Degree at the Royal Irish Academy of Music. Here she studied with Gillian Smith and in later years with David Adams.

Rachel has worked with many of Ireland's leading ensembles, including the Irish Chamber Orchestra (under the direction of Anthony Marwood), The RTE Concert Orchestra, The Ulster Players, Ensemble ICC, The Irish Baroque Orchestra collaboration projects (under the direction of Monica Huggett), Young European Strings and others. She has participated in lunchtime recitals recorded for and broadcast by Lyric FM.

Rachel is keen to explore the harpsichord's full repertoire ans has a specific interest in contemporary music. She has been a member of one of Ireland's most exciting contemporary groups, Ensemble ICC and has premiered many works by such composers as Elaine Agnew, David Bremner, Donal Sarsfield and Dylan Rhynhart.

She has also participated in Masterclasses with such eminent musicians as Laurence Cummings, Christophe Rousset, Malcolm Proud and Joshua Rifkin. Rachel also works as a harpsichord lecturer and accompanist in DIT.
